Ayurvedic Recipe for Balancing Vata Dosha- CINNAMON ALMONDS OATMEAL

  

A perfect recipe to balance Vata dosha.

Oats in any form are considered to have soft, heavy, sticky, warm, and slightly oily (mucilaginous, we might say) qualities. And oats, in their grain form, naturally taste sweet. 

These qualities and the dominant Sweet taste are particularly balancing for vata dosha, and the sweet taste, along with the heavy and soft qualities, are balancing for pitta.


 2 tbs             Almonds  

1/4 tsp          Cardamom

1/4 tsp          Cinnamon

1 tsp              Ghee

1 tsp              Maple syrup    

1 cup             Milk

1/3 cup          Oats


How to Prepare this Healthy and tasty Vata Balancing Recipe

 

1. Soak the almonds overnight and peel them in the morning. Blend in a coffee grinder with oatmeal.

 

2. Place oatmeal mix and all ingredients from the list above in a pot. Use double or triple the quantity of milk depending upon level of dryness in the body.

If you have difficulty digesting milk substitute almond milk instead.

 

3. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Lower heat to a simmer and cook until soft. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.
