Rules of eating Fruits as per Ayurveda

As per Ayurveda fruits are easily digestible food as compared to other food.

When combined with other food digestion is difficult.

So Ayurveda recommends eating fruits alone.

The reason fruits are best enjoyed on their own is that fruit is usually acidic, simple to digest and often digests quickly.

When fruits are eaten with other foods there is a discrepancy between the amount of time required to properly digest the fruit versus the most complex food. Inhibited by the more complex food the fruit tends to move through the digestive tract too slowly and can cause fermentation, gas and bloating.

Ayurveda has a set of rules as to how can you eat fruits to gain the maximum amount of nutrients and benefits out of them.

Ø    Do not eat fruits right after your meals.

Ayurveda strongly advices not to eat fruits right after a meal as it can interrupt the ongoing digestion process.

It can also lead to fermentation in the stomach that can affect your overall digestive health leading to digestive issues.

#  Eat fresh fruit separately from other more digestible foods especially foods such as dairy and cereal products.

When we eat a fruit it is good to wait half an hour before we eat another.

 #  Eat fruits in the morning.

According to ayurveda the best time for eating fruits is in the morning.

Except for citrus fruits most fruits can be eaten on empty stomach.

Apples are one of the best fruits you can consume early in the morning as they are rich in pectin, that can help your intestines and your digestive system.

Don't mix fruits with yogurt. Mixing fruit with yogurt can diminish the digestive fire, change the intestinal flora and can cause cough cold etc.

Tangy fruits must not be mixed with milk. Fruits that are sour or tangy in taste tend to have a high acidic content in them which can spoil the milk. If consumed together this can also lead to digestive issues.

# Avoid storing fruit juices.

According to ayurveda you must have fruit juices within the initial few minutes of extracting them. Storing them for a prolonged period can make them loose their nutritive value and turn acidic.
